Dongara, Lesueur National Park and Nambung National Park
This morning we left Geraldton, heading south. Our first stop was Dongara, where Hayden had
a play in the playground and we all enjoyed a treat morning tea from an old
fashioned country bakery.
Our next stop
was Lesueur National Park, this is unusual in that the road to the national
park is dirt, but the road within the national park is bitumen. The road is one way with pull off bays, which
is a great idea because even at this time of year there are still quite a lot
of wildflowers to stop and look at. We
walked to the summit of Mt Lesueur (4.5km 1 hour 10 minutes), which gave lovely
views of the remaining wildflowers – this park must be quite spectacular at the
height of wildflower season.
We stopped in at Jurien Bay to have a look at the foreshore and beach, before heading to the RAC Cervantes Caravan Park for the night.
In the dusk light, we went to Nambung National Park for our first look
at the Pinnacles – amazing, and hard to believe this desert area is so close to
the beach. Western Australia is
certainly a land of extremes and contrasts.
