Geraldton Foreshore, Lobster Factory and St Francis Xavier
Cathedral
This morning we took a walk along the Foreshore, and, per
Hayden there are too many playgrounds to choose from in Geraldton – a great problem for a kid to have!
We took a walk around town, exploring the
sights of Geraldton. We took a tour of the Geraldton Fishing Co-Op where they
produce a truly amazing amount of western rock lobster (crayfish) for the live
export market.
What I found most interesting
about this was the way in which the business is constantly innovating to move
with the market and developments in their overseas consumer desires.
After lunch we all enjoyed a nap, before we headed to the library to do some more holiday research and catch up on Hayden’s homework. In the late afternoon I went for a tour of St Francis Xavier Cathedral – this is quite beautiful with many subtle details. I particularly liked the stone Stations of the Cross which were very simple with muted colours, and the clever use of natural light.
