King Jarrah Walk, Lane Poole Reserve

This morning we slept in, after having many people party quite late last night.  This is a very popular vamping area over the weekend.  After breakfast, we walked to the King Jarrah tree, which is estimated to be around 400 years old – it is a massive tree!
The walk was quite steep in spots to get there but I really liked the Jarrah forest.  We saw Ring Necked Parrots flying in the trees, and there were also several types of miniature flowers that looked incredibly delicate.  This walk was 15.7km long and took a bit over four and a quarter hours to the complete.  There was extensive fire damage in some areas.  After a large lunch we all had a sleep or read.

In the afternoon we drove to Island Pool on the Murray River for a swim. https://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/site/island-pool The water was cold but it was also lovely.  We watched people riding tubes down a small area of rapids, and another group with some in kayaks and some on the banks with wooden and elastic powered slingshots to fire tennis balls at them.  It looked like a lot of fun!  Hayden and I then went to Trees Adventure and watched people tackling the various level high ropes courses.  It looked like an incredible amount of fun – I would love to try this!
