Eagle View Walk Trail, John Forrest National Park
This morning we drove East to John Forrest National Park, in
the Perth Hills.
This was a 15.7km walk that took a bit over 4 ½ hours. This
took us through a variety of landscapes – some rocky areas and a creek that ran
over large slabs of rock, areas of forest with many grass trees in the understorey
and plenty of wildflowers still in bloom.
This was a very hot walk today, after many cold days needing long
sleeves and long pants with top temperatures barely into the 20’s, today got to
40 degrees – not quite the perfect hiking weather! Western Australia also specialises in flies –
they are so determined they even manage to get up underneath the fly net if
there is the slightest gap around your neck.
Thankfully the beautiful scenery and vegetation on this walk made up for
it. After a picnic lunch, we took the
scenic drive through the park as a more comfortable air-conditioned way of
seeing the park. When we returned to the
caravan park we all enjoyed a cool and refreshing swim.
