Dwellingup Section of Bibbulmun Track
Overnight it was very windy, but not overly cold. We began the day as usual, up around 5:15am and away about 6:15am. Harris River crossing below the dam was very pretty, as was the picnic area. This morning was walking through forest with variable undergrowth and some relatively open areas with large numbers of grass trees. The track surface was a variety of types; pebbles, sand, slippery hard packed clay, gum nuts and pine needles. This section of the Bibbulmun Track shares a few short stretches with the Munda Biddi Track and several other mountain bike tracks that criss cross the area. The terrain was gentle ups and downs, with no significant steep areas. When we crossed the Coalfields Highway we almost took a wrong turn; it would have got us to Collie, but not on the Bibbulmun Track.

We arrived in Collie approximately 12:30pm and headed straight to the Collie Visitor Centre to collect our resupply box and town satchel.
We booked in for two nights at Black Diamond Lodge - totally set up for hikers with individual rooms, big kitchen and lounge, shared bathrooms and laundry. They provide robes to wear while your clothes are being washed, all the condiments in the kitchen, even milk and fruit juice. The washing machine, including detergent, is free to use. The courtyard is beautiful and the rooms and all facilities are spotlessly clean.

We enjoyed showers, booked massages
for tomorrow and sorted through our drop box. We went to the supermarket to buy
the bits and pieces we still needed and food for tonight and tomorrow. Chicken
schnitzel, roast potatoes, vegetables and garlic bread all baked in the oven
for dinner. We spent time chatting to one of the hikers we were with for the
first few nights who is heading home after fracturing her foot just before
Collie.
