Dwellingup Section of Bibbulmun Track
Patchy heavy rain overnight, but
temperatures were mild, so a pretty good night’s sleep was enjoyed. As usual we
were up at 5:15am and away just after 6:30am. The path was initially very
overgrown but opened up a little after a few kilometres. The undergrowth was
very thick and hence there were minimal views. The track followed the river
approximately and thus is very windy and undulating. The track surface was
predominantly a hard packed clay, that as a result of last night’s rain was
extremely slippery. There were a significant number of large logs across the
track that were quite an effort for my short legs to climb over. Overall
today’s hike was slow going and boring - our least favourite day on the
Bibbulmun Track thus far. We arrived at Dookanelly Campsite just after midday.
We had a wash, lunch and our
electrolytes. I explored the campsite, had a stretch and read my book. Two English
sisters doing an End-to-End heading north arrived just before 5pm. All five of
us slept in the shelter.
