Darling Range Section of Bibbulmun Track
Today we got up at 5am, to be away by 6:15am. This morning was much colder. We started our walk with headlamps on but did not need them for long. This section was generally gentle walking. Today there were generally a lot less wildflowers and more ferns. Some of the Bibbulmun Track went along a section of old railway line. There were beautiful gums with very slender straight trunks - most of the rough outer bark had peeled off leaving very smooth trunks.

From
here the Bibbulmun Track largely follows the train line to Dwellingup. In one
area the Bibbulmun Track was very overgrown and impassable, so we walked on the
rail tracks before rejoining the Bibbulmun Track. There were a lot of boot
prints indicating others had done the same in this spot. There was occasional
sun on an otherwise cool and cloudy morning.
We arrived in Dwellingup at 11:30am. We collected our drop boxes and town satchel from the visitor centre - lovely people.

We
arrived at Dwellingup Chalets and Caravan Park just as the rain picked up. We
were able to move our booking forward and change to a hiker’s cabin (from the
unpowered site I had pre booked) so that we have somewhere to dry our clothes.
We thoroughly enjoyed our showers. We did all our washing and draped it around
our room to dry while sorting out our resupplies.

We had a late lunch at Longriders Cafe and Restaurant - LR100 burgers, named for a local bike race. These were very generously sized and thoroughly delicious.

We purchased more supplies at the Dwellingup General Store, and a meal to heat for dinner.

Dwellingup Adventures were able to supply toe socks which I will try on
the next leg of the hike.

We spent the evening recharging our devices and eating.
