Trails WA Cape to Cape Friends of Cape to Cape Track
Not a footprint in sight!
We were up about 6am and away just after 7:15am. Today was faster walking, on shady, disused 4WD tracks that were not exclusively soft sand. The coastal scrub today was a little different to what we had previously hiked through. The path turned toward the beach and descended steeply to Boodjidup Brook. The path followed Boodjidup Brook’s southern bank as it wound its way south and slowly west.

The sand is so soft, even the seagulls leave deep footprints
On arriving at Redgate Beach we had an early lunch while watching the waves crash and the surfers taking them on. We removed our boots and socks to cross a small creek – Calgardup Brook - exiting on Redgate Beach. Redgate Beach
Between Redgate Beach and Conto’s Beach we stopped to talk to two day-walkers who have previously done the whole Cape to Cape Track. The section from Redgate Beach to Contos had a lot of day-walkers, we have ourselves previously done this section as a day walk. There were big views as well as some previous fire damage. At Contos Beach we watched dolphins in the waves. As we approached Contos Campground there was a lot of wattle in bloom, and a lot more about to bloom. Contos Campground
A lot of funds have been invested in infrastructure for this section
Abseilers and Climbers
We arrived at our campsite just after 2:30pm. The wind was picking up so we added two extra tents pegs to our normal minimal setup. There were several kangaroos, some with joeys, grazing in the campground. We rehung our food higher as the kangaroos had shown some interest. The tank water at Contos was beautiful tasting, unlike the water from Prevelly, which we had not enjoyed.
