Darling Range Section of Bibbulmun Track
We were up at 5:15am, and away at 6:30am. It was a mildly overcast day for nice morning walking through jarrah forest. We saw several small macropods approximately 40-50cm tall, as well as normal size kangaroos. Just before the Canning River we met a through hiker heading north - almost finished for him. Canning River had lots of frog and insect, as well as bird, sounds. We saw many Red-tailed Black-Cockatoos just after crossing the Canning River, in addition to several times in the forest today. The climb to Monadnocks Campsite was long and slow. We arrived about 11:30am.

Today was very cold with a cool wind and mildly overcast. The hike today felt like it had a lot more ascent than descent. I saw a lot more of the grevillea with the deep red to almost black bloom today. We did not see any kangaroos today.
This
campsite had several day hikers passing through today, being a weekend. There
were nine people in tents tonight and three in the shelter. All three in the
shelter were End to Enders. The tenters included one north bound section hiker
and eight weekend hikers.
