Darling Range Section of Bibbulmun Track
This
morning we woke to someone else’s alarm at 6:10am. It was very windy, cold and
wet overnight. We were grateful to have been in a shelter and everyone reported
sleeping very well. We left camp about 7:30am. It was gentle cool walking
weather initially. The terrain was gentle, through burnt forest and easier
walking than the past two days.

We arrived at Beraking Campsite before 10am. Interestingly Beraking Shelter had a chandelier.
Leaving
Beraking Campsite heading south it is a steady descent to the Darkin River.
After crossing the Darkin River we crossed paths with a school group headed in
the opposite direction. The climb toward Mt Dale had a steep section at the
beginning of the climb, but the majority of the climb was a gentle ascent.
There were some patches of very slippery mud following last night’s rain. The
Bibbulmun Track has changed in recent years to now include the Mt Dale Circuit Trail.
On a clear day this would have spectacular views. While it was largely clouded
in today, we did get some views. We saw a large group of Red-tailed
Black-Cockatoos. We arrived at Mt Dale Campsite just after 3pm. There was some
rain just after we arrived at the campsite, which cleared as evening fell. We
again slept in the shelter with three other End to Enders.
