This
morning we got up at 5am and headed off at 6:15am. We caught a bus from near
the caravan park to High Wycombe train station, followed by a second bus to
Kalamunda. I realised I did not have a pen to write on my postage satchels
with, so we purchased one at a service station opposite the bus stop. I left
the packs with Drew and headed for the nearest post box, only to discover it
did not fit in the opening. I knocked at the parcel collection hatch at
Kalamunda Post Office, and the lady there kindly took charge of it.
We started our Bibbulmun Track adventure from the Northern Terminus at 7:45am.

The trail very quickly moved into lovely open tree land with all sorts of wildflowers. There were large rocky outcrops. The trail itself was a mix of dirt trails, rocky trails, 4WD tracks and pine needles. The weather was partially cloudy with a light breeze. When the sun comes out it is quite hot but thankfully, we were mainly in dappled shade. We had an early lunch at Hewett’s Hill Campsite. There were also two day-walkers enjoying their lunches.

Between the Perth Hills Discovery Centre and Ball Creek Campsite there was a beautiful understory with masses of wildflowers. We arrived at Ball Creek Campsite at approximately 3:30pm. We were joined by three other individual End to Enders. One chose to tent, with the remainder staying in the shelter. We chatted and read and went to bed at hiking time.
