Trails WA Cape to Cape Track Friends of Cape to Cape Track
Overnight
was not as cold as I had expected from the evening temperatures. We were up at
6am and away by 7:30am. Learning from yesterday we removed our shoes to cross
Wilyabrup Brook. The water was just above my knees. We decided to leave our
boots off for a bit to allow our feet to dry and the sand to come off. Unfortunately,
the beach sand was freezing cold to walk on, and we found the sand very hard to
get off our feet. From Wilyabrup Brook to the stairs near Biljedup Brook was
the prettiest part of the walk thus far. Along the way we passed a pretty
little waterfall. The path was mainly low coastal shrubbery with views of the
ocean. There were a lot of small birds of many varieties. We hiked across some
exposed rocky areas that were very hot.

We stopped for lunch at Gracie’s General in Gracetown - hot pies, divine sourdough bread and Bundaberg soft drinks. Gracetown Gracie's General Store
The walk from Gracetown to Ellenbrooks Homestead was very hot. We saw a large group of galahs fly quite close overhead.
The Ellensbrook Homestead site looked lovely and I would like to return to look through the buildings. Ellensbrook Homestead From the homestead to Ellensbrook Campsite we walked through a shaded wooded area beside the brook and saw water flowing out of the base of Meekadarabee Cave. Meekadarabee Cave
We arrived at the campsite just before 4pm and enjoyed a wash with creek water. A massive dark brown kangaroo came to the edge of the campsite, saw people were present, and took off. The kangaroo was at least six foot tall and through the trees Drew initially thought is was a horse. Once again, we had the campsite to ourselves for the night.
