Wunnumurra Gorge, Mt Elizabeth Station and Jigngarrin (Barnett River Gorge), Gibb River Road
This morning we went for a 4WD and then walked to Wunnumurra Gorge – total walk 9.4km in about 2 hours 45 minutes.

The gorge was gorgeous, amazing, beautiful, etc; there really aren’t words to do it justice.  Getting to it involved climbing down two unsecured ladders and clambering over rocks.  There were several small waterfalls that were still running despite how late in the season it is.  We enjoyed a swim as well as exploring the rock walls of the gorge – we found some art of fish on the walls.  We returned to Mt Elizabeth in time for lunch and then packed down.

I would thoroughly recommend staying here – lovely people and service, beautiful gorge and large unpowered camp area. https://www.mtelizabethstationstay.com.au/ We then drove to Jigngarrin (Barnett River Gorge) and are staying in the free camp area. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/australia/western-australia/jigngarrin-trail https://www.thegibbriverroad.com/barnett_river_gorge We walked down to the plunge pool and had a swim – it was very cold down deep and did not appear to have a bottom that we could find.  Next, we hiked up the gorge to a lookout – the view was spectacular, the light was perfect for the clouds to reflect in the still water of the gorge.  We continued hiking up to the top of the gorge where there were several more swimming holes.  We didn’t stop to swim here as we were running out of day. (This walk 5.4km in 2 hours) We got back to the van and had it set up just as it got properly dark.  A very minimal set up was done today to allow for an early departure for Manning Gorge tomorrow.
