13 September 2016 – Bell Gorge, King Leopold Conservation Park; Gibb River Road

Bell Gorge, King Leopold Conservation Park; Gibb River Road

Hayden had Evie and Sam (Turnbull) stay over in his tent for the night and they were all amazingly well behaved.  This morning I found the three of them lying on their bellies reading books – three bookworms in a pod. After breakfast we drove out to Bell Gorge.
https://parks.dpaw.wa.gov.au/park/king-leopold-ranges https://trailswa.com.au/trails/bell-gorge-walk-trail/print We walked along Bell Creek and then climbed down below the waterfall for a swim.  The Turnbull’s met us there and we headed back up onto the ridge line to explore and attempt to get to the second waterfall.  The views from the ridgeline were amazing, but we couldn’t find a safe way down to the second waterfall and the path was very poorly marked and quite overgrown.  We stopped at a lovely spot for morning tea and then returned to the pool below the first waterfall.  We swam, relaxed, I read my book while the kids played.  One of the lovely things about this gorge is there is a large area of shade from the gorge walls so you can both sit on the rocks or swim in the shade – a delightful way to keep cool on another hot day.
I think we will all sleep well tonight.
