Amalia Gorge, Jackaroo’s Waterhole, Pigeon Hole Lookout, Saddleback Ridge and Telecom Hill, El Questro
This morning we drove out towards El Questro Gorge to see how deep the “Deep Water Crossing” was – the conclusion after watching others do this was that we would need a snorkel, which we do not have. We then drove to Amalia Gorge and walked all the way to the end of the gorge.  There was a deep waterhole (Ochre Pool) part way along where a group of kids were fishing, and catching quite nice size bream.  There were some narrow ledges and steep up and down sections through here, before heading up to the end of the gorge.  At the end of the gorge was a large beautifully clear waterhole, which we had all to ourselves.  Early in the dry season this would have a waterfall running into it, but it is gorgeous even without it flowing.  We had morning tea and a swim, relaxing for about an hour before returning to our car. https://www.elquestro.com.au/explore/activities-and-experiences/self-guided-hikes

We then drove to Jackaroo’s Waterhole for a picnic lunch – we also had this all to ourselves.  After lunch we drove on the 4WD track to Pigeon Hole Lookout.  Drew was then brave enough to tackle the more challenging and steep Saddleback Ridge 4WD track to the Red Hill Lookout and Saddleback Ridge Lookout.  Once again the views were huge!  Country out here is big on a massive scale!  After a rest and afternoon tea, we headed up Telecom Hill to enjoy yet more awesome views of this gorgeous countryside.  Another magic day!
