A second Hayden school day, with a break at lunch to visit
the town centre to listen to an indigenous presenter talking about tools and
weapons used locally. The presenter was the same person as we listened to in
the museum, so we enjoyed his talk. We then visited the camel farm, however
Hayden didn’t wish to have a ride and Tracy wasn’t going to ride alone, so we
just had a look around.
Additional information about staying at Yulara (Ayers rock
town):
If you wish to have a powered site or even a non-powered
site, with a guaranteed close proximity to the camp kitchen, toilets etc, then
book at least a week earlier at this time of year. Winter and school holidays
is peak season. No amount of abuse to the park staff will make a sites appear.
However, if you are like us the overflow is perfect for $20 per night and we
only have to walk 30m more.
Yulara and region around it is desert. Do not bring your dogs or cats camping, do not wear your designer clothes, and do take photos of the incredible scenery, not just selfies.
