Once again,
we drove to the Guthega area, this time to Guthega Village. We were able to see the dam wall and could
see grass beneath the edges of the water where the water level has recently
risen, possibly from the snow melt. Our
first walk today was the Illawong Walk which passes near the privately-owned
Illawong Lodge.
https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/illawong-walk The Snowy River is
crossed in two spots – once with a standard bridge, which has replaced the
heritage listed flying fox; and secondly with a suspension bridge. We saw plenty of wildflowers and plenty of
wombat holes, but no wombats.

Afterwards we
headed into town and paid for hot showers and laundry at a caravan park. Then grocery shopping, fuel and some more
information on the areas we are heading to next.

In the
afternoon we hiked out from the campground to do the Bullock Track and Lake
Crackenback Walk.

and gave some lovely views of Thredbo River.
The lake at Lake Crackenback was smaller than I expected. They had some interesting outdoor sculptures
around the lake. Drew also noticed a nice
Alpine Bottlebrush and pointed it out for me.
