We were up at 5:30 and walked to the Alice Springs Telegraph Station for parkrun. Given this was where our Larapinta Trail began it seemed a nice way to bookend our adventure. It was very cold outside this morning. According to the Bureau of Meteorology it was 0.8 degrees Celsius at both the beginning and end of parkrun. As we had packed our merino gloves in the bag with our worn hiking clothes, we did not wish to get them back out due to the aroma, so we went without. My hands had pins and needles from the cold for the first half of the run, despite wearing four layers.

After parkrun, we walked back to town to have showers and pack up our room. Then I went to the Aboriginal Fabric Gallery, again, to get fabric as a present for our friend who dropped us to and picked us up from the airport in Brisbane.

We then walked around town to have a general explore, then bought a piece of cheesecake each and enjoyed it in the sun. We were ready and waiting at the front of our accommodation at 11am, as requested for a noon drop off time at the airport. We had our lunch and then joined the queue at baggage check in. This was very slow as much of the time there was only one staff member checking people in – we had plenty of time to spare so were not concerned. Moving through security was very quick. We were seated on the plane by 2pm and the plane took off on time. The flight to Brisbane was generally smooth. We were above the clouds most of the way, limiting views.
The descent into Brisbane was a bit bumpy. We arrived in Brisbane on time and collected our bags. Our very generous friend picked us up from the airport and drove us home, arriving back about 7pm.
A thoroughly wonderful trip!
