Drew and I enjoyed a trail run through Byfield this morning. Today’s main adventure was the coastline of Byfield National Park.

Big Sandy was a very large sand dune that needed the tyres right down and a run up to get over. We then headed to the northern end of Nine Mile Beach for morning tea.
We drove south next to Corio Bay and looked over this amazing bay that would have several islands at low tide. Next, we began working our way north.
Queen Mary Sand blow was awesome, and the photographs cannot do it justice. It was massive – one kilometre across – and multi-coloured. When you walked sometimes your step would break through one colour of sand to reveal a different colour just below the surface. There were lots of animal tracks, including a lot of dingo tracks, between the base of the sand blow and the beach a kilometre away.

Next up was Little Five Rock Beach. The walk from Five Rocks Visitor Area to Little Five Rocks Beach as spectacular – views, beautiful trees and a creek cascading down as a series of small waterfalls.

Stockyard Point Township area was larger than I expected, at least a dozen houses. The views from Stockyard Point Headland, both north and south, were stunning. We were rained on, but then blessed with a double rainbow.
The
drive back was easier, but still challenging.
Some sections of the road were corduroyed, that is, slabs of wood laid
across the track, and would have been impossible without.
Back
to the van for a delicious curry that has been in the Ecopot all day.
