Wondai Country Running Festival and Bjelke Petersen Dam

25 June 2022 - 329 545

Departing late morning we drove to Wondai to set up camp at the showgrounds.  We took a walk around town and collected our race numbers for tomorrow morning.

Drew and I took part in the Wondai Country Running Festival this morning. It was a very cold start, one degree Celsius, on a simple out and back course.  It is uphill all the way out, completely unrelenting, but joyously downhill all the way back.  This is the first race I have been to where there were firepits to huddle around and keep warm at the start/finish area. We both enjoyed our runs and would positively consider a return to the event in future years.

After lunch, we drove to Bjelke Petersen Dam. It is currently very full and picturesque.

We also visited Dusty Hill Vineyard, which is set on the dam.  There were large long-haired cattle with very large horns grazing in a disused vineyard area.
