On the road again…
This morning we did a slow pack up, everything still being
very wet, including our washing from yesterday as it rained again during the
night, although nothing like the day before.
We set off for Longreach, I drove for a few hours and when we swapped I
fell sound asleep in the passenger seat for 1 ½ hours!! Drew drove the remainder
of the day. We took regular breaks and got into Longreach mid afternoon – we
headed to the Tourist Information Centre to find out whether the places we wished
to go in Winton would be accessible or whether roads were cut – conclusion one
open and one closed; so we decided to go onto Winton. Lots of water beside the road and a little
across the road between Longreach and Winton, I suspect early in the day this
would have been much more. We are
staying at the North Gregory Hotel van parking area, $10 a night for the
family, including access to toilet and showers.
