Whitsundays - Shute harbour and Coral Beach

Sunday 23 June 2019 – 265 665

This morning we headed north again. We stopped off at the tourist information centre in Sarina – great information on the National Parks of the Whitsunday Region, and a fantastic book swap. https://www.queensland.com/en-au/information/sarina-tourist-art-and-craft-centre-visitor-information-centre The readaholic in the back seat is now very happy.

We have set up for the next eight nights at Discovery Caravan Park Airlie Beach. We have a lovely corner campsite that is quite private.

Coral Beach
This afternoon’s adventures included a trip to Airlie Beach Tourist Information (this only had information on paid experiences); and a trip to Shute Harbour.
https://www.tourismwhitsundays.com.au/regions/shute-harbour  We hiked to Coral Beach, aptly named with pieces of many different types of coral making up the beach; and The Beak, which provided a limited view over the Whitsunday Passage. https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/conway/about.html#walking The Lions Lookout in Shute Harbour was our next stop. In my opinion this had the better views, and we were also able to see a variety of vessels – from dinghies to car ferries, passenger vessels and catamarans. A full day!
