Expedition National Park and Minerva Hills National Park

4 July 2018 - Expedition National Park and Minerva Hills National Park

This morning we had Pretty Faced Rock Wallabies come right into our campsite.

After leaving Carnarvon Gorge we drove south to turn into the Arcadia Valley.  We drove through this beautiful grand valley surrounded by mountains.  The road then went up onto the escarpment of the Lonesome Section of Expedition National Park.  We had a picnic lunch with an amazing view from the top of the escarpment.  We then turned north and headed to Springsure.  https://www.npsr.qld.gov.au/parks/expedition/

We are camped at the Virgin Rocks Rest Area.  After setting up we went to Minerva Hills National Park, this involved a 4WD track to some awesome lookouts. The Minerva Hills are unusual in that they appear to be a group of low hills on top of the escarpment.  After dark, the Virgin Rocks were lit up with flood lights and one can see how they got their name.
