Dickabram Bridge and Mount Bauple and District Museum

This morning we went exploring the local area.  Gunalda is a lovely little town with a good general store and an amazing supply of books for a gold coin donation.

We then drove toward Miva to have a look at the historic Dickabram Bridge. https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/heritage-register/detail/?id=600836
This is certainly impressive - it is huge and built in the 1880's, it must have taken an enormous amount of labour.

Next up was Mount Bauple and District Museum https://www.bauplemuseum.com/
This was a treasure trove of information for anyone wanting to research something to do with the local area.  There were display books of information collected on many. many different topics.  The Bopple Nut is an important part of the local history - leading to the commercial Macadamia Nut.
Then once again back to camp to relax.  It has been great to have a weekend away!

Gunalda Camping - Finally a weekend away!

Just a short trip up the highway to Hangar O camping ground for our first weekend away post Covid-19 lockdown.

We met up with friends who have just picked up their van ready for next year's trip around our amazing country, and testing out their van.  I thoroughly recommend a weekend away, then a slightly longer trip to learn any new van/camping setup before setting off on the long trip.  Today we had a relaxing day around the campsite - swimming , reading, chilling.
